Rostock (dpa / mv) – Four months after the start of the season in March due to corona, the shipping company Aida Cruises sends two of its cruise ships to Rostock for the first time. AIDAmar and AIDAblu are expected in the Überseehafen at the Warnow estuary on Saturday. But they don’t have any guests on board yet. As the Rostock-based shipping company announced, both ships will be prepared for the resumption of cruise shipping in August and will also take the crews back on board. Most of the crew members, who come from abroad, arrive at the airport in Rostock-Laage on charter flights and are brought directly to the ships in buses.
On August 12, AIDAmar is scheduled to open the cruise season in Rostock-Warnemünde. Aida Cruises said that several three- to four-day short trips are planned by the end of August. These trips would take place with an “adapted passenger capacity”, under the required hygiene rules and without calling other ports. As the first ship in the Aida fleet, the AIDAperla will set sail from Hamburg on August 5. AIDAblu will start in Kiel on August 16.
