Race doctors decide on Sunday / MotoGP SPEEDWEEK.COM

The fears have been confirmed. Alex Rins suffered a dislocation of the right shoulder and a fracture in the shoulder joint.

After the speedy transport to the hospital in Jerez, Alex Rins, who had a serious fall in qualifying 2 on turn 11, was examined extensively. An MRI scan showed that the Suzuki star had a non-displaced fracture of the ball joint on the right upper arm bone. There is also a muscle tear and a dislocation of the right shoulder joint.

Before the crash, Rins secured ninth place on the grid. It is uncertain whether last year’s World Cup fourth can participate in the race to the Spanish GP tomorrow. The race doctors will examine Rins in the morning before the warm-up and then decide whether he will be “fit to race”.

“It is a pity that Alex had this bad crash in turn 1 at the end,” said team manager Davide Brivio. “The front wheel slipped away, and he thundered into the gravel at high speed. Unfortunately, he sustained a shoulder injury. Now it’s up to the doctors; they will decide if he can take part in the race. So we’ll wait and see how the situation develops overnight. »

«I turned into the last sector and suddenly the front wheel slipped off in turn 11. I wanted to catch the slide, but I couldn’t. So I drove out into the gravel with a lot of speed. When I saw the route boundary approaching, I knocked the bike over to avoid hitting the barrier. Unfortunately, I immediately felt very severe pain. I was immediately taken to the Clinica Mobile and then to the local hospital. The injuries were diagnosed there. But we cannot yet estimate whether my race participation will be possible. I want to rest as well as possible now. And then I have to wait for the rating of the racing doctors. »

Teammate Joan Mir only finished twelfth and last in Q2. «I am really disappointed with the course of the qualifying because I felt good all weekend, especially on Saturday. We now have to find out why the feeling in Q2 was no longer so good. I want to send a lot of strength to Alex. Hopefully he can return to the pits soon. »
