At the state-owned Telekom Austria, sales were stable in the first half of the year at EUR 2.2 billion. However, the net profit rose by 30.3 percent to EUR 203.1 million. For the full year, CEO Thomas Arnoldner expects a drop in sales of around two percent.
The company lost up to 80 percent of its roaming revenue as a result of the slump in business and private travel in the wake of the corona pandemic. In addition, there was a strong reluctance on the part of business customers in the systems business, where orders were put off or stopped, “also to keep liquidity in the company,” said Telekom boss Arnoldner.
In the shop business, Telekom noticed a sharply reduced customer frequency at the beginning of the lockdown. In the meantime, the business is almost back to pre-crisis levels. There were a handful of virus infections in the company itself, but no infection chains in the house.
For business in the Austrian home market, Telekom Austria posted sales of EUR 635.9 million in the second quarter, a decrease of 3.4 percent compared to the previous year. The operating result fell by 8.3 percent to 100.8 million euros. For the half-year, this meant a 1.7 percent drop in sales to 1.3 billion euros. The operating result fell by 7.6 percent to 195.6 million euros.
