Spain’s record champion Real Madrid has again expanded its lead over archrival FC Barcelona to four points and is therefore close to its 34th Spanish football championship. The Royal team celebrated a lackluster 2-1 (2-0) win at Granada CF on the third last day of the Primera Division.
Madrid will be able to safely secure their first title since 2017 by winning their home game against Villarreal on Thursday (9 p.m.). Barca, who won 1-0 at Real Valladolid last Saturday, are also playing against CA Osasuna.
The record champion from the capital laid the foundation stone for victory with two quick goals. Ferlan Mendy (10th) and Karim Benzema (16th) initially brought calm into the game of the favorite. Darwin Machis caused tension again shortly after the break with his connection goal (50th), especially since Real increasingly lost control of the game as a result – without a bad awakening.
