The 100-year-old Army veteran rose to fame earlier this year when he walked 100 lengths of his garden to raise money for the NHS. Now he has a new challenge in his sights.
The captain joked that he would be a perfect fit for the iconic role if Craig departed after the late release of No Time to Die, saying it was “a very good idea”.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t mind being James Bond,” he said to Metro. “That would be a good role because he always comes out best, in the end he is always the winner.
“So being James Bond would be a very good idea.”
Last week, producer Barbara Broccoli teased that the next iteration of Bond would be “reinterpreted” – in that sense, Captain Tom definitely fits!
Several big names have been associated with the part recently. Reports last month falsely claimed that Tom Hardy took over the role.
Meanwhile aIn a poll to find out who was the fan favorite, Outlander star Sam Heughan won the win, scooping nearly 30 percent of the 80,000 votes cast.
Hardy and Henry Cavill also proved popular choices, finishing second and third, while several votes were cast for Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston and Richard Madden.
He added, “I really don’t know what else to say. Do not worry! Better leave it than if you found it. ”
Craig made his Casino Royale character debut in 2006, meaning he’s now the longest-serving Bond of all time – although both Sean Connery and Roger Moore have appeared in more films.
