CSKA Moscow silenced Dinamo Moscow 3-1 in the Derby of the East on Sunday. The Nigerian national player Chidera Ejuke hit the net.

The striker entered the game after making his international bow for the Super Eagles in the 1-1 draw with Tunisia, where he put on an inspiring performance.

He took this form to his club and that resulted in a goal against the loudspeakers in the VEB Arena.

In the highly competitive affair, the first half failed to score as both teams missed several clear chances despite Fyodor Chalov’s goal being canceled by VAR in the fifth minute.

Nonetheless, the second half scored four goals as Viktor Goncharenko’s team went to their seventh league win of the 2020/21 season.

Konstantin Kuchaev opened the goal for CSKA in the 51st minute and shot the ball past goalkeeper Anton Shunin after it was set up by Chalov.

Three minutes later, Ejuke doubled his team’s lead after falling from close range when the visitors failed to take Viktor Vasin’s free kick.

Croatian midfielder Nikola Moro reduced Dinamo’s deficit in the 57th minute after his long-range shot from Daniil Lesovoy’s short pass sailed under the right arm of goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.

Victory for Goncharenko’s squad was guaranteed after Igor Diveev benefited from a terrible away team defense with a cool finish.

Dinamo’s late comeback ambition was dashed 15 minutes before full-time after Roman Evgenjev received his marching orders after a second bookable offense.

After an impressive shift, Ejuke was replaced by Adolfo Gaich in the 62nd minute.

The Cameroonian international Clinton N’Jie was on duty for the duration, while Burkina Faso’s Charles Kabore came on in the 66th minute for Daniil Fomin.

The Nigerian international Sylvester Igboun was not listed for the draw by manager Schwarz.

With 22 points from 11 games, CSKA Moscow is in second place, while Dinamo Moscow fell to eighth place after collecting 17 points from the same number of games.

Ejuke, who has scored two goals so far, would score his third goal when his side host Arsenal Tula on October 26th. Four days before they visit Wolfsberger AC in the Europa League.
