The Verdi union wants to continue to disrupt the processing of Black Friday orders at the Internet mail order company Amazon with another strike call.
Bad Hersfeld – The strike begins on Monday night in the night shift and ends on Tuesday with the end of the late shift. Both shipping centers FRA1 and FRA3 in Bad Hersfeld have been called.
“In the last week, more than 500 employees responded to our call to strike,” says Verdi strike leader Mechthild Middeke, “although overtime with extra surcharges is the order of the day and a lot of pressure is put on by superiors. Ver.di demands, among other things, the recognition of the collective agreements of the retail and mail order business.
Amazon: strike has no effect
According to a statement from the Amazon press office, the strike has no effect on the processes in the logistics centers, because the vast majority of employees work normally. “At our locations in Bad Hersfeld alone, more than 4,000 permanent and seasonal workers help us to do justice to the people who rely on us in these times. Like every day, our teams concentrate on getting the packages to the customer. Amazon offers an environment in which one can enjoy working, contribute and be successful. The fact is that Amazon employees already benefit from excellent wages, excellent additional benefits and excellent career opportunities – and all in a safe, modern work environment. Everyone has these advantages and opportunities at Amazon, as well as the possibility of direct exchange with managers. The wage package, including the additional benefits, and our working conditions also compare with other important employers in the region, ”the company said in a statement. (red / jce)
