Vienna (OTS / BMSGPK) – Deaf and severely hearing impaired people depend on facial expressions and visions when communicating with other people. The mouth and nose protection that covers the mouth area makes communication extremely difficult for these people. With the latest amendment to the COVID-19 Emergency Measures Ordinance, an exception is created for these people: As long as it is necessary for communication, deaf and severely hearing impaired people and their communication partners are allowed to remove mouth and nose protection. ****
If it is necessary, membership of this group of people can be proven by means of the disability pass with the corresponding additional entries. The exception will apply from tomorrow, November 27, 2020.
Social Minister Rudi Anschober: “I am aware that mouth and nose protection is a particular problem for deaf and severely hearing impaired people. It was therefore particularly important to me to take the needs of these people into consideration and to facilitate communication with other people. “
