Audi is preparing a return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans Zoom
Audi is preparing “intensively for the entry into the new sports car category LMDh with its highlight races 24 Hours of Daytona and Le Mans,” says Julius Seebach, the new managing director of Audi Sport GmbH. In return, Audi withdraws from Formula E.
Audi has already praised the LMDh platform in the past. She ticks off a lot of boxes, the four rings said. However, an exact entry date is currently missing. The LMDh is to debut in the IMSA in 2023, and in the WEC possibly as early as 2022.
“The most important message for our fans is that motorsport will continue to play an important role at Audi,” added Seebach.
In addition to the new Dakar pillar and the new, old Le Mans pillar, customer racing is the third major division in the reorganization for Audi Sport. Audi is committed to starting the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and to the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC).
