As the violets report, the consequences of the corona crisis have resulted in a negative annual result. Sales fell by 41.3 percent from 38.7 to 22.7 million euros compared to 2018/19. The annual result is minus 18.8 million euros, equity has shrunk by 14.5 million euros.
In terms of entry fees, the Viennese had to accept a minus of 27.2 percent due to the Corona crisis and the associated ghost games, which is the equivalent of 1.1 million euros. In the area of advertising / sponsoring / VIP hospitality there is even a minus of 11.3 million and in merchandising there is a loss of almost 300,000 euros.
“The reason for the negative annual result, especially for the EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of -11,903 kEUR, are painful one-off effects, without which the operating result would be positive. Out of commercial caution, a national and an international major sponsor had to be written down. A possible collection of both of these claims was made more difficult by the COVID-19 crisis. These two individual value adjustments result in a sum in the double-digit million range, “said Austria.
St. Pölten at a loss too
The SKN St. Pölten has to deal with a loss of 400,000 euros. Sales have declined after five consecutive years of growth, which the association attributes to the corona pandemic and the associated decline in ticket income and the stagnating sponsorship market.
Compared to Austria, the major sponsors should not have dropped out.
