With an Instagram profile, the “Kelly Family” singer Barbara Ann Kelly, known as “Barby”, who has long been considered lost, now suddenly emerged from obliviont.
► BILD explains what’s behind it.
In contrast to most of the other siblings of the cult band such as Michael Patrick (42), Joey (47) or Maite (40), Barby has not appeared in public for 20 years.
The reason: The guitarist suffers from a mental disorder and has to take strong medication. From the year 2000 she withdrew completely from the public. Until now!
The first post: A black and white photo of Barby at the microphone, which is apparently a few years old. BILD knows: It is not up-to-date, but was made in the mid-90s and one of your absolute favorite photos from the Kelly Family time.
About the photo it says on the online service: “From now on there is an official Instagram account from Barby Kelly. He is looked after by her brother Joey Kelly. “
So Barby himself is not at the helm here – but her profile already has 16,000 subscribers (as of Sunday morning).
Barby preparing for a comeback? According to BILD information, not! The account was opened to counter their many fake accounts on the online service. If it is recognized as official by Instagram (“blue tick”), these can be deleted.
Joey Kelly to BILD: “The account does not change anything in Barby’s situation. It is and remains as it is. ”A return from her to the Kelly Family is not planned.
The Kelly Family’s next tour is planned without them, they have also just been postponed by one year to 2022 due to Corona. The family would also like without Angelo Kelly, who dropped out in May, keep going. But even without Barby.
Jimmy Kelly first went public in 2013, talking about his sister’s illness on Facebook. In his letter he wrote at the time: “I would like to inform you that Barby has suffered from a mental illness for many years which has prevented her from living alone, caring for herself or taking responsibility for her own life. It must be under constant supervision. ”
The star hype has not done her any good in the past.
How is she today? According to BILD information, Barby is cared for by foster parents in North Rhine-Westphalia, where she also lives. She should be doing better than when the disease broke out in 1999, but according to BILD information, she must continue to take psychotropic drugs and be cared for.
She continues to sing, including on the anniversary album “25 Years Later”, on which she was heard in several songs. She could do the same on the next album. On the other hand, on tour these parts were always taken over by other band members – that is also intended to continue.
However, she continues to have frequent private contact with her siblings, a few weeks ago she was a guest at Sister Patricia (51) in Düsseldorf. “Not everyone is made for a life in the spotlight,” Patricia BILD explained. “Nevertheless, she always feels like playing music. We’ll take care of them. “
Barby himself did not want to comment on BILD’s request on Sunday.
