Oberhausen (ots) Accompanied for the ninth time in a row BlackFriday.de – Germany’s oldest Black Friday portal – the popular shopping event and informed consumers about the discount campaigns taking place on the Internet and in stores.

In the past few weeks, the BlackFriday.de team has collected more than 1,000 Black Friday campaigns from retailers and well-known brands from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and published them punctually for the discount day at the Internet address https://www.blackfriday.de. The consumers gladly accepted this service and thanked them with numerous website visits. In November 2020, the site once again had more than 2 million unique visitors.

The happy to buy bargain hunters caused real sales explosions, especially in the online shops of the dealers. This does not come as a surprise, because a study carried out by BlackFriday.de in cooperation with the market research company Appinio already showed in October that two thirds of Black Friday shoppers wanted to hunt bargains exclusively on the Internet this year. In addition, the buyers planned a higher budget for their Black Friday shopping compared to the previous year.

By far the most popular offers on Black Friday 2020 on BlackFriday.de were the deals of Dyson (Up to 25% discount on patented Dyson technology), Apple (App Store & iTunes gift cards when purchasing selected products), IKEA (#BuyBackFriday: A good deal for you and the environment) and the mail order company’s BLACK FRIDAY SALE OTTO (Thousands of deals at greatly reduced prices).

But many other retailers also experienced drastic increases in sales in their online shops. So could Arctic (https://www.arktis.de), a shop for cell phone cases and Apple accessories, observed an increase of 112% compared to last year’s Black Friday.

Rainer Wolf, Managing Director of arktis.de: “We hired new employees before Black Friday to be able to send the expected increase in parcels. Although we are used to the Black Friday madness from recent years, this year it really is due to the Corona crisis extreme.”

At Weisshaus (https://www.weisshaus.at), an Austrian online shop for spirits, the increase in sales was even higher at 177%. In contrast to Germany, where the shops in the inner cities were still allowed to open on Black Friday, the Austrian government imposed a comprehensive lockdown shortly before the bargain spectacle. The only thing left for Austrian consumers was the hunt for discounts on the Internet. And they were happy to make use of it on Black Friday.

Andreas Osler, Managing Director of Weisshaus GmbH: “We had already expected a very high volume of orders. Not least because Black Friday 2019 was the day with the highest turnover in our almost 40-year company history. However, this year’s Black Friday topped everything again and exceeded our expectations many times over!”

By the way, the bargain hunt is not over yet. On today’s Cyber Monday, many retailers can save again. An overview of all shops and discounts is available at bf.de/cybermonday.

After Cyber Monday, the final spurt of the Christmas business starts and the discount marathon takes a break for 12 months. The next Black Friday will take place on November 26, 2021.
