Black Friday: “Don’t buy stuff you don’t need”


Climate activist Greta Thunberg has called for people not to shop unnecessarily on Black Friday, the high-turnover shopping day. “Overconsumption is destroying current and future living conditions and the planet itself.”

The 17-year-old Swede wrote on Friday. She published the statement as part of her online climate protest on Twitter and Instagram. “Don’t buy stuff that you don’t need”she wrote.

Not just Thunberg, but elsewhere too criticism loud on Black Friday. “Dumping prices give the impression that a product costs very little. But the costs are incurred at a different location or at a different time, ”Iwan Schauwecker, spokesman for Solidar Suisse, told the AWP news agency.
