Erfurt / Hildburghausen. The corona hotspot Hildburghausen in Thuringia once again recorded the Germany-wide highest number of new infections with the new virus on Thursday, setting the next negative record. With 602.9, a value of more than 600 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants was registered for the first time within a week, as the Robert Koch Institute announced.
According to the Ministry of Health in Erfurt, 70 new cases were added within the last 24 hours in the Hildburghausen district alone, and there were 628 nationwide.This brings the total number of infections detected in Thuringia since the start of the corona pandemic to 15,248.
Protests in the market square
On Wednesday evening, contrary to the Thuringian Infection Protection Ordinance, 400 people had gathered on the market square in Hildburghausen. There were numerous violations during the protests and the police used pepper spray to get the situation under control. A police spokeswoman said on Thursday that the protest was probably not organized by right-wing extremists.
32 Thuringians are artificially ventilated
In Thuringia, 10,260 people are considered recovered, the number of those who died from or with the corona virus rose to 327. According to the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive and Emergency Medicine, 74 patients were treated in intensive care units on Thursday, 32 of whom had to be artificially ventilated.
