Because of several corona cases, the Esslingen Clinic isolated the patients in the neurology department on Wednesday. The outbreak was noticed after a routine swab from a patient who was about to be transferred to a nursing home. He had no symptoms of the disease, but turned out to be infected, according to the clinic. Then all patients and employees of the station were tested.
“A total of 16 patients and 14 employees were counted as Covid-positive.” Affected patients were immediately isolated and the infected employees were released from work. In the next few days, no new patients would be admitted to the ward until it was unequivocally clear “that no other employees were infected,” said Medical Director Stefan Krämer.
