Tax-free compensation for volunteers for mass tests, assumption of overtime for community and state employees by the federal government, clarification on FFP2 masks in the classroom
Klagenfurt (OTS / LPD) – Carinthia’s governor Peter Kaiser warned in today’s video conference of governors with Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Minister of Health Rudolf Anschober that there is a clear perspective for the population and the economy, including transparent information on the corresponding steps until there are nationwide vaccinations against the corona virus. Likewise, clarity about further mass tests would have to be created if necessary by groups of people to be determined.
“In order to contain the pandemic successfully, the population needs trust in the measures prescribed by politicians. We will only manage this pandemic successfully together and avoid unnecessary losses, ”emphasizes Kaiser.
Kaiser demanded, among other things, tax-free compensation from the federal government for voluntary helpers during the mass tests, the assumption of the costs incurred for overtime for state and municipal employees, as well as a regulation from the federal government for the wearing of FFP2 masks by teachers in the School lessons regardless of the results of the mass tests.
In addition, the governor suggested information videos about the process of the mass tests on the Austrian TV stations in order to relieve the population of any fears. Kaiser does not understand that the armed forces will be available with their infrastructure (barracks) for the tests for teachers and school staff next week, but not for the following mass tests for the general public. For these mass tests, consideration should also be given to using gyms in federal schools.
