Marcia Cross beat cancer, but her battle with the disease was tough. Now the actress reveals how severe the side effects of chemotherapy were.

As Bree Van De Kamp in the US series “Desperate Housewives” she was in the public eye for years, but Marcia Cross fought her toughest fight in secret. In 2018, the actress made her cancer public with an Instagram post – a year after the devastating diagnosis.
“In case you’re wondering: I had anal cancer,” she made it clear right away and has been actively involved ever since against the stigma of this issue one. The 58-year-old spoke again and again about her illness in order to educate and encourage other sufferers. Marcia only now revealed how hard her own fight really was.
“Suddenly I was right in the middle”
She had to endure 28 radiation treatments and several weeks of chemotherapy – with severe side effects. “During my first treatment I thought I was fine. And then, out of nowhere, I felt this stinging in my lip. It came from the chemo and the pain was unbearable,” she reports to the “Coping.” “-Magazine. “Suddenly I was right in the middle of it: stomach ulcers, skin problems, mouth sores and all the other terrible things that chemo can do. It was really no fun!”
It took her body some time to function normally again, but she is very happy and grateful to have survived the illness, the actress emphasizes. She has been in remission for two years now, but has a check-up every three months so that she doesn’t have to go through something like this again.
