Frankfurt: Sculpture by the artist Jeff Koons stolen – he also worked for Lady Gaga
The porcelain dog exhibited in Frankfurt is a replica of the original work from 1995, which a few years ago was auctioned off to an art lover for 58.405 million US dollars (about 49 million euros). Jeff Koons is known for his porcelain sculptures that look like balloon animals. His work “Rabbit” was auctioned in May 2019 for around 91 million US dollars (more than 76 million euros). This made the silver-colored sculpture the most expensive work of art that has ever been auctioned by a living artist. In 2012 the Frankfurt Schirn dedicated a mega show to him.
The artist has also worked with pop star Lady Gaga. For the cover of her album “Artpop” he created a blue polished steel ball, behind which Lady Gaga sits with her legs apart.
Burglars also made big booty at a jewelry store in downtown Frankfurt. They looted jewelry worth several hundred thousand euros.
