Federal government increases COVID-19 investment premium as further support against economic corona effects. One billion euros as an incentive for business investments and job security.

(red/czaak) “The investment premium will be increased by one billion euros. This premium is intended to create an incentive for further corporate investments. These investments create growth and secure jobs in Austria, “said Minister of Economic Affairs Margarete Schramböck when announcing the further expansion of support for companies against the economic effects of the Corona.

Over 50 percent of the applications with digitization or greening aspects
“All companies can continue to submit applications to aws without interruption. The funding commitments are made after the budget increase has been resolved, ”says Schramböck, Head of Department. The investment bonus is an important stimulus to stimulate the economy again and to secure jobs. There are currently 49,613 applications with an investment volume of 21.7 billion euros and an applied for subsidy volume of around 2.3 billion euros, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs in a broadcast.

“Over 50 percent of the applications have a digitization or greening aspect. This shows that the 14 percent premium is working, ”emphasizes Schramböck. Around 64 percent of the applications come from small companies (less than 10 employees), almost 19 percent from small companies (less than 50 employees), just under 10 percent from medium-sized companies (less than 250 employees) and just under 8 percent are from large companies (from 250 employees). Most of the applications come from Upper Austrian companies (26 percent), followed by Lower Austria (around 20) and Styria (around 14 percent).

Additional aws funding for the areas of greening, digitization or health
Submission via the aws funding manager has been possible since September 1, 2020. The aws investment bonus supports companies with a non-repayable grant. Investments of more than 5,000 euros and a maximum of 50 million euros are funded with a subsidy of seven percent. There is also special funding for investments in the field of greening, digitization or in the health sector. Companies receive a grant of 14 percent here.

Climate-damaging investments or investments in undeveloped land, in financial assets, takeovers or in capitalized own work are excluded. The bonus can be requested until February 28, 2021 and can be applied for retrospectively for investments made after August 1, 2020. Austria Wirtschaftsservice (aws) processes the applications. The measure is aimed at all companies regardless of their size or industry.
