Hairdresser Klier: Germany’s largest hairdresser chain closes 450 branches! – Economy

Bankruptcy in Advent: The Wolfsburg District Court wants to decide on Tuesday at 12 noon whether bankruptcy proceedings will be opened via Germany’s largest chain of hairdressers. According to BILD information, a third of all branches should close.

Around 9,200 employees in 1,350 hairdressing salons (including Klier, Super Cut, Hair Express) and 130 hair product shops (Cosmo, Beautyhairshop) are affected by the crisis.

Reason for bankruptcy: Corona! During the forced closure in spring, 100 percent of the income was lost, while fixed costs (including shop rents) continued to run. As early as September, Klier had therefore applied for what is known as a protective shield procedure in order to avoid access by creditors.

Of the 1,350 hairdressing salons, around 450 are to be closed, 15 to 20 percent of the positions could be eliminated. The company hopes to complete the bankruptcy process by the end of March and then pick up speed again.

The Klier Hair Group recently generated annual sales of around EUR 300 million. The company, based in Wolfsburg, is in the third generation of family ownership.
A company spokesman to BILD: “If the court opens the main proceedings on Tuesday, this would be good news for customers and employees.” Because the bankruptcy court gives the company a positive forecast.

The speaker: “The aim is the sustainable renovation of the Klier Hair Group.”
