The investment bonus is an important stimulus to stimulate the economy again and to secure jobs. As of today (November 27, 2020) 49,613 applications with an investment volume of 21.7 billion euros and an applied for grant volume of around 2.3 billion euros have been received. “Over 50 percent of the applications have a digitization or greening aspect – this shows that the 14 percent bonus is effective,” says Schramböck.
Investment bonus as a signal of confidence
WKÖ general secretary Karlheinz Kopf sees this as a clear signal of confidence: “The investment bonus encourages our companies to invest in the future and gives them strength. And this calculation works out, as you can see in the lively demand for the premium model: More than 48,000 applications have already been submitted to the aws processing office. The grant volume applied for amounts to EUR 2.3 billion, which in total will trigger an investment volume of EUR 21.6 billion. The increase in the premium by another billion euros comes at exactly the right time to maintain this momentum ”.
The focus of this premium model on future investments is particularly pleasing: For investments in the areas of digitization, sustainability / greening and life science, double the premium of 14 percent is granted. In addition, the investment premium can be applied for in addition to existing environmental and green electricity subsidies.
Number of investments is increasing
The current WKÖ economic barometer proves the relevance of the investment premium: the proportion of companies planning investments increases. In the next few months up to spring, 58 percent of all companies plan to make use of the investment bonus, according to the survey of almost 7,000 companies. The 14 percent premium for future areas is particularly rewarded by companies planning new investments: two thirds want to invest in innovations, 53 percent in digitization projects, and every second company is also planning ecological, sustainable investments.
Around 64 percent of the applications come from small companies (less than 10 employees), 18.5 percent from small companies (less than 50 employees), 9.8 percent from medium-sized companies (less than 250 employees) and 7.7 percent are from large companies (from 250 employees) . Most of the applications come from Upper Austrian companies (26.2 percent), followed by Lower Austria (19.5 percent) and Styria (13.9 percent).
Application to aws possible
Submission via the aws funding manager has been possible since September 1, 2020. The aws investment bonus supports companies with a non-repayable grant. Investments of more than 5,000 euros and a maximum of 50 million euros are funded with a subsidy of seven percent. There is also special funding for investments in the field of greening, digitization or in the health sector. Here companies receive a grant of 14 percent. Climate-damaging investments or investments in undeveloped land, in financial assets, takeovers or in capitalized own work are excluded. The bonus can be requested until February 28, 2021 and can be applied for retrospectively for investments made after August 1, 2020. Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft mbH (aws) processes the applications. The measure is aimed at all companies regardless of their size or industry.
