Iraq: Iranian commander killed in air strike

Apparently a commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard was killed in an air strike in the Iraqi-Syrian border area. He was traveling in a vehicle loaded with weapons along with three other men who had also died, said representatives of the Iraqi security forces on Monday. The vehicle was hit after it crossed the border from Iraq and entered Syrian territory.

Iraqi paramilitaries backed by Iran helped recover the bodies. The incident happened sometime on Saturday or Sunday. In local military and militia circles, the representation joined. No information was given on the exact identity of the commander. The statements could not initially be confirmed independently.

According to Iranian sources, the Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was killed in Tehran on Friday (see main picture). Iran blames Israel for the crime.
