With only one mistake on the shooting range, Lisa Hauser made 13th place for the best result of the ÖSV biathlon team on the opening weekend in Kontiolahti. With a great final round, the Tyrolean confirmed her impressive running form and thus ensured the second top 15 result for the ÖSV women’s team.
The victory went to the Swede Hanna Oeberg, who was able to assert herself with a flawless performance on the shooting range ahead of the two Norwegians Marte Olsbu Roeiseland and Karoline Offigstad Knotten.
With Christina Rieder (33rd place) and Dunja Zdouc (34), two other ÖSV athletes won World Cup points. Katharina Innerhofer (57th place) and Julia Schwaiger (68th place) ended up outside of the points with three shooting errors each.
In the men’s category, Johannes Thingnes Boe secured his first win of the new season. After the Norwegian had to give in to his compatriot Sturla Holm Laegreid yesterday, the previous year’s dominator prevailed today with an error-free shooting performance ahead of the two Swedes Sebastian Samuelsson and Martin Ponsiluoma.
For the Austrian men, the second competition of the season did not go as planned. Julian Eberhard came in 21st place as the best ÖSV athlete. While David Komatz (37th) and Simon Eder (38th) were able to place in the points, Felix Leitner (49th), Harald Lemmerer (73rd) and Patrick Jakob landed (93) in the beaten field.
“With number ten you start the competition very early, so it’s always a bit difficult to assess what the race will be worth in the end. But I think my race was really good and I’m very happy with my mileage. The performance on the shooting range was okay, I know that in the sprint I normally have to be flawless to finish in the top, but with one mistake I’m much happier than yesterday. Today, many other athletes simply showed a great performance, so the placement may not seem as strong, but my race was very good for me personally. After the individual race yesterday and the sprint today, it is now time to regenerate well and then concentrate fully on the next races on Wednesday. ”
It will continue next Thursday, when two sprint races will be on the program in Kontiolahti.
