Investigators in Argentina have formally accused Leopoldo Luque, the personal physician of the late football legend Diego Maradona, of negligent killing, according to media reports. His practice in the capital Buenos Aires and the house in a suburb were searched Sunday morning, as the Argentine media unanimously reported, citing sources in the judiciary.
It is being investigated whether there have been any irregularities in the treatment of Maradona in his house in a guarded residential area north of Buenos Aires in the last two weeks of his life. The 1986 world champion was supposed to recover there after the neurosurgeon Luque and other doctors operated on him on a blood clot in the brain. Maradona died of a heart attack last Wednesday.
