Post-test for performance on PS5 and XSX with version 1.0.4

from Claus Ludewig
With the free patch 1.0.4, the Fps number for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is said to have improved on the next-gen consoles Xbox Series X / S and Playstation 5. The Eurogamer website has checked this.

The adventure game Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was one of the launch titles for the Xbox Series X / S and had to be finished on November 10th. The performance optimization probably suffered a bit under the time pressure, so that the game from Ubisoft achieved a little more fps on the Playstation 5. That should change with the recently released patch 1.0.4. Now the Eurogamer website has checked how the update affects the performance. The Fps number remains practically unchanged on the PS5, but there was once a system crash to report. With the Xbox Series X, however, the optimization that has now been carried out has paid off. Now 60 fps are almost always achieved. There are no longer any major fps drops on the Xbox Series X, as with the launch version of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla now with 60 fps at UHD on Xbox Series X

Both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X use dynamic UHD resolution. The lowest resolution measured on the Microsoft console is now 1188p, in order to be able to keep 60 fps as constant as possible. In most cases, however, the Xbox Series X plays Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in a higher resolution with 60 fps. The PS5 always achieves a higher resolution than 1188p, but you have to live with much more frequent tearing compared to the Xbox Series X. The version on the Xbox Series X is now much smoother than before patch 1.0.4 and also smoother than the PS5 game version.

New with the patch 1.0.4 is the graphic mode image quality in 4K-UHD. The Fps number is reduced to 30 Fps on both the Playstation 5 and the Xbox Series X and the level of detail is increased in return. Who Assassin’s Creed Valhalla plays on the Xbox Series S, now has the option to activate a performance mode and thus to be able to play on the smaller Xbox console with 60 fps. A dynamic resolution between 720p and 1440p is also used here.
