Square Enix has announced SaGa Frontier Remastered for PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, Switch, iOS and Android. It should appear worldwide in summer 2021. The role-playing game is a remaster of SaGa Frontier that was released on PlayStation in July 1997 in Japan and in March 1998 in the US. The game was never officially released in Europe. Only English and Japanese texts will be available.
In SaGa Frontier Remastered, the eight-person team returns – also with Fuse as a new character. Each of the eight characters has different backgrounds, goals and endings. The decisions made in the course of the game should have an impact on the course of the story thanks to the free-form scenario system. The combat system and the improvements in skills via “Glimmer” should not change much compared to the original.
The developers promise otherwise revised HD graphics based on the style of the original, new or missing events, a revised user interface and other features (2x speed), but they want to remain “true” to the original.
