Samsung is preparing to donate two more smartphones to the European market. In addition to the Galaxy A12, the South Koreans have now also announced the Galaxy A02s model in the Netherlands. The Galaxy A12 in particular could be an interesting alternative for price-conscious mobile phone buyers. Especially for those who value a long battery life at a low price.
Samsung Galaxy A12
The Samsung Galaxy A12 comes in four colors: black, white, orange and blue. It is equipped with a 6.5 inch TFT Infinity V display that houses an 8 megapixel selfie camera in a small recess. A quad camera setup is installed on the back, which consists of a main camera (48 megapixels), an ultra-wide angle camera (5 megapixels) and two 2 megapixel cameras (macro & depth of field).
The drive is provided by an octa core processor, not specifically named, in which half of the CPU cores clocks at up to 2.3 GHz and the other core unit at up to 1.8 GHz. Depending on the region, the central processing unit is supported by 3, 4 or 6 GB of RAM, flanked by either 32, 64 or 128 GB of storage space. The battery is 5,000 mAh and can be charged with up to 15 watts. A fingerprint sensor is integrated into the housing on the side. The dimensions are 164 x 75.8 x 8.9 millimeters with a surprisingly high weight of 205 grams.
Samsung Galaxy A02s
If you want to be satisfied with a little less, you can use the Samsung Galaxy A02s. Although the display is 6.5 inches here, too, Samsung has only integrated a 5 megapixel camera into the corresponding screen recess. There are also only three cameras available on the back. The main camera has a resolution of up to 13 megapixels, plus two 2 megapixel cameras for macro and depth of field shots. This model lacks a wide-angle camera.
Also a bit weaker: the processor. All cores work with a maximum of 1.8 GHz. In addition, buyers of this phone only have access to 3 GB of RAM and the internal storage is limited to 32 GB. However, memory expansion is possible. As with the Galaxy A12, you can insert a microSD card up to 1 TB in size into the slot provided to expand your data repository. This phone, which is available in black, white, blue or red, also has a 5,000 mAh battery.
No information about the price yet
Samsung has not yet revealed what the Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A02 will cost. This will only be communicated at a later point in time, said the South Korean group in the Netherlands. However, it is clear that the Galaxy A12 will be available from January 2021, while the Galaxy A02 will not be available until February.
The prices can be roughly based on the Galaxy A11. This entry-level smartphone is currently available in Germany at prices starting at around 150 euros, and the Galaxy A12 should also be in this price range; possibly something about it. With the Galaxy A02, however, a realistic price is likely to be between 100 and 150 euros.
