This story is not an isolated incident. Affordable apartments and shared rooms are hotly contested in Berlin. So hard that some people try to make women sexually compliant in their position of power.

► Celine (20) also wants to move to Berlin. She gets a lot of reactions to her apartment ad with a profile photo … She gets lewd compliments, sexual innuendos or you get straight to the point: “I was offered several times that I could live cheaply, but in return I had to sleep with the landlord or roommate. ”

Jenny-Kerstin Bauer, consultant for the Federal Association of Women’s Advice Centers and Women’s Emergency Calls (Bff) is not surprised by such an experience: “Women experience sexual harassment and violence in various situations. On the street, on buses, at work and on the Internet. “

► Account manager Lea (26) was offered a room that would have cost only 1 euro a month. The catch: The roommate without a room of his own would sleep on the floor in the kitchen and would be basically naked in the apartment.

When Lea pointed out to a man that her ad was not on a dating platform, he told her it was her own fault. Finally, introduce yourself with a photo (Photo: private)

Many of the men speak out extremely perfidious. They point out to applicants that they are to blame for the situation. After all, the women would apply “with a pretty profile picture and go for it,” wrote one. According to Bff expert Bauer, the offers are anything but harmless: “Such messages are targeted and deliberately performed actions to humiliate women.”
