Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – The sports clubs in Baden-Württemberg affected by the corona pandemic can also rely on financial aid from the state government in the coming year. The special program “Emergency Aid Sport” was extended until June 30, 2021, as the Council of Ministers decided on Tuesday.
“Because the pandemic continues and a decline in membership numbers may not have an impact until the new year, we are extending the program,” said Sports Minister Susanne Eisenmann (CDU) of the German Press Agency. “We won’t let our sports clubs and associations down.” The 55-year-old also appealed to the members: “Please stay loyal to your club even in these difficult times.”
Since the start of the program last summer, according to the Ministry of Sports, around 730 applications with a grant volume of around 8.3 million euros have been approved. A total of 11.6 million euros are available to support amateur and popular sports clubs. The money is intended to help cushion financial losses caused by the Corona crisis.
