It finally worked: In the derby of the 2nd soccer league against FC Juniors, Andreas Milot won his first victory as coach of SK Vorwärts Steyr. The red jackets defeated the team of ex-Steyr coach Gerald Scheiblehner 3: 1.
“In terms of performance, we continued our last game in Lafnitz. Except that this time we made fewer mistakes and scored goals up front,” said a satisfied Steyr coach, who at least enjoyed the mood of his winless coaching colleague with a beer after the final whistle could improve a bit. Both had met as opponents for the first time after a long time together in the Red Jackets. The performance on the grass did not make the junior coach Scheiblehner jump for joy: “That was our worst performance this season.”
New position for Mustecic
Steyrs Bojan Mustecic, on the other hand, is in really good shape. The 26-year-old achieved the 3-1 final score himself – the creative spirit also had its legs in almost all offensive actions. The more offensive game orientation under Neo-Coach Milot also plays Mustecic in the cards. In the new 3-4-1-2 system, he acts as a hanging tip, impressing above all with his technical skills and his overview. “We put him in a position that suits him,” says Milot. In his new position, Mustecic enjoys a lot of freedom: “If he has to work a lot against the ball, that’s not his. He can’t develop like that.”
In addition, at the beginning of the season he did not really have a clear head: For a long time there was speculation about a move to a higher league. Milot: “That bothered him. If he continues to play like this, this topic will probably come up again soon.”
Steyr was missing another important player in the derby at the weekend: Michael Halbartschlager could not be there due to a delayed ankle injury, he will also be out of the two remaining autumn rounds.
