Nabil Bentaleb, who was suspended at FC Schalke 04, has made his incomprehension about the Bundesliga club’s decision public.
“I took note of my completely unjustified exclusion from the professional team with great surprise and disappointment,” wrote Bentaleb on Instagram. He emphasized that despite disappointing results in the current season, he had always behaved “professionally”.
Suspended Bentaleb attacks Schalke and Steffen Freund
The 26-year-old midfielder was suspended from the club after Schalke’s 2-0 defeat against VfL Wolfsburg.
Madjid Yebda, the Algerian’s advisor, then announced to Sport1 that he would take legal action against Schalke if necessary, as there were no comprehensible reasons for the suspension.

In his statement, Bentaleb further stated: “I had to endure bad criticism that bordered on racism.” He is annoyed by experts who are “more interested in virtual fame than real journalism”.

Freund had drawn a connection between the lack of discipline of the Schalke players Bentaleb and Amine Harit and their origins. Freund later apologized to Twitter for “unfortunately expressing himself in such a misleading way”. (dpa)
