The Russian authorities have finally called on Kremlin critic Alexej Navalny to return from Germany. Navalny is violating the probation requirements of a 2014 sentence, the prison authority FSIN announced on Monday.

With reference to a report in the journal “The Lancet”, it was said that Navalny was discharged from the hospital on September 20 and had been symptom-free since October 12. Navalny published a letter to his lawyer on Twitter that he had to report to an office in Moscow by 9 a.m. on Tuesday (local time). A Navalny spokeswoman said it was impossible. In addition, the opposition continues to suffer from the consequences of his poisoning. The FSIN is acting at the behest of the Russian government.

Navalny collapsed on a domestic flight on August 20 and was flown out for treatment at the Berlin Charité after receiving initial treatment in Russia. According to the federal government, he was poisoned with a neurotoxin from the Novitschok group, which was developed during the Soviet era. (Read about this: The poison was in his underpants).

Navalny accuses Russian President Vladimir Putin of being the mastermind behind the attack. The Moscow government has denied involvement, calling Putin part of a US-backed plot to discredit him.
