Ashwin Bhat becomes Lufthansa Cargo’s Board Member for Sales


As of March 1, 2021, Ashwin Bhat will take over as a member of the Executive Board and head of Product and Sales (Chief Commercial Officer) at Lufthansa Cargo. The 51-year-old will take up the previous position of Dorothea von Boxberg, who will take over as CEO on the same day.

As Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Cargo, Ashwin Bhat is responsible for the global external organization for sales and handling, the product, revenue management, pricing, network planning and sales control.

Bhat has headed the freight department of Swiss International Air Lines in Zurich as Vice President and Head of Cargo since October 2015. He joined what was then Swisscargo AG in February 1999 and has held various management positions, including revenue management, transport management and global area management, up to his last position as Head of Cargo for Swiss International Air Lines.

Ashwin Bhat, born in 1969, graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor in Science, Major in Chemistry from the University of Mumbai, India and worked for several years as an accounting manager for an airline financial services provider in Mumbai before starting his career in Zurich.
