Vienna. (OTS) – On December 1, 2020, Carina Margreiter will take over the management of the aws i2 Business Angels program, which has been in existence since 1997. The neutral service networks start-ups with investors and is currently used by more than 420 business angels. Every year, more than 700 start-ups are screened and checked for their investor skills. 60 to 70 projects are then presented to the participating business angels. The placement volume amounts to a total of around EUR 5 million per year.
“I am very much looking forward to being able to contribute my international experience and knowledge of the challenges and needs of the Austrian start-up and business angel scene as part of my new job at aws,” says Carina Margreiter. Before that she was in charge of the internationalization program Global Incubator Network Austria, which is organized jointly by aws and FFG. She accompanied more than 100 Austrian companies on their internationalization to Asia and not only contributed to a successful market entry, but also supported them in the search for “later-stage” investors in Asian hotspot regions.
In addition to screening the start-ups and networking, Margreiter is responsible for organizing the aws i2 Business Angels events. For all participating investors, the program organizes several events for personal networking with start-ups looking for capital: These include the Austrian Business Angel Day with the presentation of the “Business Angel of the Year” award, and the Business Angel Summit in Kitzbühel.
Born in Tyrol, she studied strategic management at the University of Innsbruck with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship and dealt with topics such as innovation management and (corporate) accelerators, including during her stay at the University Accelerator SkyDeck at UC Berkeley in California or as part of her Continuing education at IE Madrid Business School.
