Late on Saturday evening, the canton police in Bern received a report that objects were being thrown from the federal terrace into the Marzili district below. On site, a civilian patrol found a fight among several people when they arrived at around 11 p.m. at the stairs leading from the Bundesplatz to the Bundesterrasse.
The policemen were able to separate the arguments, using pepper spray for a short time. “A younger man presumably involved in the dispute was temporarily taken to a police station for further clarification,” said Kapo spokesman Christoph Gnägi. The man was able to leave the station around midnight.
