There, the experts should trace how the virus was transmitted to humans. So far, experts have assumed that bats are the original hosts of the virus. However, it is unclear via which animal it was transmitted to humans.
The WHO sent a team to prepare for the fact-finding mission in China in July. At the end of October, the international team of experts held virtual consultations with Chinese scientists for the first time. A date for the start of the mission in China has not yet been set.
The novel corona virus was first detected in humans at the turn of the year in the Wuhan. Since then it has spread all over the world. Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, more than 73 million people have been infected with the virus. More than 1.6 million infected people died.
