“Cyberpunk 2077” doesn’t live up to all the hype at the moment. The reason for this are the messed up PS4 and Xbox One versions. Should the game have been postponed again?
For PS4 and Xbox One owners, “Cyberpunk 2077” is a gross disappointment. The versions for the last-gen consoles have numerous issues *, including many bugs, muddy graphics, and game crashes. At first, players welcomed the fact that “Cyberpunk 2077” was being postponed so that the game could be given the final touches. But now many are of the opinion that the developers needed even more time. Why CD Projekt Red has not postponed “Cyberpunk 2077” again, the studio has now revealed in an investor phone call.
“Cyberpunk 2077”: Developers paid too little attention to last-gen versions
“We definitely didn’t spend enough time looking at the performance on the Current-Gen,” admitted Michał Nowakowski from CD Projekt Red could not have postponed the release at least for PS4 and Xbox One. Nowakowski explained that theoretically it would have been possible to initially only publish for PCs. But a split release for the different console generations was out of the question.
In addition, it is the current version not yet the next-gen version. The performance of “Cyberpunk 2077” is better on PS5 and Xbox Series X due to the stronger hardware, but it is not yet the full-fledged next-gen experience. By the way, the upgrade to the next-gen version will be free. Until then, the developers are trying to improve “Cyberpunk 2077” with updates for the PS4 and Xbox One editions and to eliminate errors.

“Cyberpunk 2077”: Release came at an inopportune time
It was to be expected that the game would run worse on the old generation of consoles, but nobody would have expected such performance problems on the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Ultimately, this led to numerous Test ratings downgraded in retrospect were. Partly were also Purchase warnings pronounced.
The timing for the release of “Cyberpunk 2077” wasn’t good. The PS5 and Xbox Series X hit the market just a few weeks earlier. Since the consoles are currently very difficult to get hold of, most players haven’t made the switch yet. It will still be a while before the next-gen really replaces the PS4 and Xbox One. And until then, new games will continue to be played on the old consoles. Developers should therefore not neglect them, as CD Projekt Red discovered.
