Triple winner FC Bayern Munich has financially felt the corona pandemic. The German record champions had to accept losses in sales and profits in the 2019/20 season compared to the previous year, the club said.
Accordingly, the total turnover of the group was 698 million euros. In the previous season, the club had announced record revenues of 750.4 million euros. Profit after tax fell from 52.5 million euros (2018/19) to 9.8 million euros.
The financially strongest Bundesliga club assessed the annual result “even positively” in view of the losses caused by the corona pandemic. Since March 2020, Munich has had to play all games in the domestic Allianz Arena without spectators.
“Given the current situation, we can still be satisfied with that,” said CFO Jan-Christian Dreesen, the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”. “The reason for this is not least the outstanding successes that our team has achieved,” said CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in the press release.
