Wolfgang Hesoun, General Director of Siemens Austria, will be the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Casinos Austria AG (CASAG). The state holding company ÖBAG announced on Wednesday.
With Hesoun, ÖBAG director Christine Catasta and Erika Stark-Rittenauer from ÖBB-Holding AG were also newly elected to the casino’s supervisory board. “The realignment of the control committee is the keystone in this year of changes,” said ÖBAG board member Thomas Schmid according to a broadcast.
Now “peace of mind and predictability” for casinos
For ÖBAG as a core shareholder, it was important to “bring calmness and the ability to plan back into CASAG and expand the expertise in the supervisory board”. With the settlement of the shareholder dispute, the conclusion of a syndicate agreement between ÖBAG and the Sazka Group and the initiation of restructuring in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been far-reaching changes for the entire group of companies this year.
Schmid announced that it would make player protection the focus for the coming year, which is why a study by the Institute for Higher Studies (IHS) on the economic consequences of gambling addiction has been commissioned.
