In beauty contests, it was always said, the participants like to take off some clothes. Katharina Wohlrab (25), the new Miss Berlin, prefers to free the battle for sashes and crowns from clichés … The computer science student will compete in the Miss Germany election on February 27 at Europa-Park Rust with 15 competitors.
Lesbian, married, feminist, smart AND beautiful: Wohlrab shows that it’s not just skin, make-up and centimeters that count in such choices.
“I wouldn’t fit in there either,” she says, “I’m not your typical Miss Berlin and actually applied more for fun.” Why did she still win? “I think because I’m authentic and have been through a lot.”
Wohlrab was raped by a work colleague when he was 18. Almost eight years later, she can speak openly about it. At the beginning of the year she founded the podcast “Trauma_weiter”, speaks to victims of sexual violence and has now reached 4,000 listeners. “Now I want to be the person for others that I would have needed then,” she says.
Today she is happily married – to Anna (33). They met at Tinder in 2017, and it sparked on the first date. Miss Berlin: “I’ve always been interested in women. The outing and the reaction of my family were very positive. ”

The couple live with the Labrador Apollo and the miniature dachshund Pluto in Friedrichshain – and have plans for the next generation: “We want to get pregnant in two to three years.” They are looking for a sperm donor from Denmark.
In addition to studying, Wohlrab supports elementary school girls in the IT sector. “Feminism,” she says, “doesn’t mean women are better than men. But equivalent. ”
If the new Miss Germany is elected in two months’ time under a strict hygiene concept, one thing is clear: the Berliner will never compete in a bathing suit …
