Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – How did Hessen’s job market cope with the renewed closure of restaurants and cultural establishments in November? The Hesse regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency reported today on the consequences of the second (partial) lockdown during the corona pandemic.
In October, the number of unemployed had recovered slightly for the second month in a row. As of the reporting date, 193,972 men and women were registered as unemployed, which corresponded to a rate of 5.6 percent.
In the usual course of the year, November is considered a busy month because retailers in particular are hiring additional seasonal workers. Short-time working, which has already been used extensively, and other aid programs by the federal government to stabilize the economy are likely to play a role.
