The bidding for the SG 118 license plate is over. An anonymous bidder was willing to pay a hefty sum on the sign. The Road Traffic Office is more than satisfied with the result.
The auction of the number SG 118 has ended.
The highest bid was CHF 35,000.
The road traffic office is very satisfied with the price.
The bidder now has one month to transfer the money.
The digital race for the St. Gallen license plate SG 118 came to an end on Wednesday at midnight. The high at the end of the auction was CHF 35,500. The anonymous user was therefore willing to spend a five-digit sum for a three-digit number. The St. Gallen Road Traffic Office is very satisfied with this price. “That is very gratifying for us,” says Hanspeter Sigg, Head of the Road Traffic and Shipping Office St. Gallen. The money will flow into the street fund. Erich Stricker, Head of Traffic Licensing at the St. Gallen Road Traffic Office, is also satisfied with the result. “It went extremely bad,” he says.
Before the lucky one receives the signs, the money must first be transferred. “An invoice will now be sent to the highest bidder, and the usual payment deadlines apply,” explains Stricker. It is very different when the money arrives. “In auctions that end up in the media, buyers are usually more cautious and wait until interest has subsided,” says Stricker. He is also satisfied with the auction.
In the spring a low number will be auctioned again
Another three-digit number auction can be expected in spring. “We have a small inventory of three-digit numbers,” assures Stricker. Depending on the weather around Easter, it will be determined when a coveted number will be auctioned. But such a proud price for a low number is rare. “I think that it was the association with the fire department that made the price,” says Stricker.
