Deserted streets and squares because of the Corona curfew on New Year’s Eve? As shown in Stuttgart: not quite.

Stuttgart – The sparse New Year’s Eve program does not apply to everyone – with nocturnal curfew, a maximum of five contacts from two households, prohibited stays in public spaces without good reason. The right to demonstrate is not overridden by the Corona Ordinance – and this is used extensively in Stuttgart: On New Year’s Eve, demos against corona measures are registered in the city center from 4 p.m. to 1.30 p.m.
