Federer confirmed in the tennis council
Roger Federer was re-elected to the ATP Players’ Council, as was Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, among others. The president will be elected at the first meeting next year. Until last summer, Novak Djokovic chaired the twelve-member players’ council. The Serb left the panel during the US Open to found an ATP-independent gaming association (PTPA) himself. In the new organization, Djokovic wants to work more effectively for the interests of the players. He received support from the North Americans John Isner, Sam Querrey and Vasek Pospisil, among others. Federer and Nadal had meanwhile called for unity within the existing authorities.
Tournament in Indian Wells not in March
The Masters 1000 tournament in California has been postponed indefinitely due to the corona virus. The execution was actually planned for March. “ Due to the effects of Covid-19, the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells will not take place on the usual dates in March,” the ATP said in a statement. It is possible that the tournament will be rescheduled later in the year.
