RB Leipzig won against Werder Bemen on Saturday and is at the top for the time being. In the table cellar, Cologne and Freiburg took important victories.
Borussia Dortmund experienced a home debacle against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga and threatens to lose touch with the top of the table. BVB lost to VfB 1: 5 (1: 1) on Saturday (More on that here) and is five points behind RB Leipzig after three league games without a win. The Saxons won 2-0 (2-0) against Werder Bremen and at least initially took first place from FC Bayern Munich, who will have to compete at 1. FC Union Berlin that evening.
Leipzig took the lead with a penalty against Bremen. Marcel Sabitzer made sure to convert (26th), Dani Olmo added for the hosts before the break (41st). The Saxons have been undefeated in the league since the end of October. Bremen, on the other hand, suffered their third defeat in a row and threatens to slip in the table.
Gladbach only draw
Borussia Mönchengladbach missed getting closer to the top group. The Gladbach team separated 1: 1 (0: 0) from Hertha BSC and remain seventh. The team from Gladbach rotated to six positions three days after reaching the last sixteen of the Champions League and couldn’t get past a draw at home against Hertha. The newcomer Matteo Guendouzi from Berlin brought the guests into the lead with his first Bundesliga goal (47th), Breel Embolo equalized (70th).
In the basement of the table, 1. FC Köln scored 1-0 (0-0) at FSV Mainz 05 and SC Freiburg, who defeated Arminia Bielefeld 2-0 (0-0), scored important victories.
Mainz remained in the relegation zone as 17th and newly promoted Bielefeld as 16th after their defeats in acute need. Elvis Rexhbecaj decided the game in Mainz in favor of Cologne (55th). Vincenzo Grifo (79./Foul penalty) and Wooyeong Jeong (90. + 2) met in Freiburg.
