FC Schalke 04: Will S04 get rid of one of its problem professionals? Possible interested party with a clear announcement
Gelsenkirchen. Nabil Bentaleb’s time at FC Schalke 04 has finally expired.
The player who was considered a problem professional was once again suspended. Schalke 04 would like to hand it over in winter if possible. Werder Bremen was recently associated with him.
FC Schalke 04: Bremen wanted Bentaleb before
After the big row of the last few weeks, Bentaleb is one of the losers in the Royal Blues – again. Since moving to Gelsenkirchen in 2016, it is already the fifth suspension that the midfielder of FC Schalke 04 receives.
His contract expires next summer, but according to reports, those responsible want to get rid of him in winter in order to save his salary. If necessary, this could also happen according to the Sebastian Rudy model.
Most recently, Werder Bremen was considered a possible buyer. The club from the Weser also has a history with the 26-year-old. A year ago, Bremen should have turned to Bentaleb – the move failed due to an injury.

This interest, however, will not appear to flare up again. “We will most likely not sign any players in winter,” Werder’s sports director Frank Baumann told the “Deichstube”. Regarding Bentaleb, he explicitly emphasizes that this will be “not an issue”.
The difficult relationship between Bentaleb and Schalke 04
The winter break will presumably be the last chapter in the Schalke 04 / Bentaleb relationship. As a loan player from Tottenham, he once caused a sensation and was then signed for 19 million euros – to this day the second most expensive purchase in the club’s history.

But then things went downhill. Bentaleb was more and more uncomfortable and was thrown off the squad several times. Earlier this year he was loaned to Newcastle United. After his return in the summer it looked like he would use his last chance at Schalke. But that has now also been done. (mh)
