The open construction site days are a magnet for visitors to the Stuttgart 21 rail project. These will be canceled next year due to Corona. But there should be a replacement.
Most recently, the open construction site days took place at the beginning of January 2020. According to the Stuttgart-Ulm Railway Project Association, more than 64,000 people wanted to get an idea of the construction progress of the lowering of the station. The construction site should have been reopened to interested parties around January 6, 2021. But the sixth “Open Construction Site Days 2021” will be canceled due to the current Corona regulation.
“Of course it is difficult for us to cancel the club’s top citizen event.”
The Stuttgart-Ulm rail project announced on Monday that it was planned to open the gates of the construction site at Stuttgart main station for three days and to enable direct exchange with the miners and engineers as well as the project partners.

Instead, the association has now published a video of the progress of the construction site. It can be seen on the YouTube video platform and was clicked around 40,000 times within a few days. You can see 3D views of the large construction site from different perspectives. The film was shot on November 15th. You can see it here.
The actual days of the open construction site in 2021 should be rescheduled as soon as the corona regulations and construction site logistics allow, the association further announced.
