The seventh anniversary of Michael Schumacher’s disastrous accident will shortly be celebrated. On December 29, 2013, the Formula 1 legend fell while skiing and sustained serious injuries. The 51-year-old has not appeared in public since then.
Special prize for Michael Schumacher
At the annual award ceremony of the FIA world motor sports association, Michael Schumacher was awarded the “Special President’s Prize” – which his wife Corinna Schumacher accepted for him in Geneva.
An appearance with a rarity that caused goose bumps. The mother of two thanked them with an emotional speech. “He loved racing so much,” said Corinna Schumacher of her husband and emphasized in relation to his social commitment: “Michael always had a big heart for people who need something.”
FIA President Jean Todt, a close family friend and head of the Ferrari team during the Schumacher era, also enthused: “Michael was always ready to support anything that helps society.”
The evening was a double highlight for the Schumacher family, because son Mick also received an award. He was allowed to receive the trophy for his championship title in Formula 2. In the coming season, the 21-year-old will be seated in an F1 cockpit of the Haas team.
