Zug takes over the top of the table – Lausanne loses in Friborg

EV Zug leads the National League over Christmas.

EV Zug spends Christmas after the expected victory against the SCL Tigers in front of the ZSC Lions as the leader of the ice hockey championship. Friborg-Gottéron won the chase duel against Lausanne.

Leader changes occur almost every day in this extraordinary season, as teams have to pause again and again. Zug used the fact that the ZSC Lions were free from play due to the quarantine of SC Bern to push the Zurich team back from the top. Central Switzerland struggled for a long time against the SCL Tigers, who lost for the fifth time in a row, but turned a 0: 2 into 4: 2 in the final third.

Friborg-Gottéron is now in 3rd place after winning the duel against Lausanne 3-2. The Freiburg team prevailed against their rivals from Vaud for the first time in the fourth comparison this season.

Genève-Servette lost a 2-0 lead at home against Biel (final score 4: 2) as did the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers against Davos (5: 3). The hard-fought Ticino derby went 3-2 after extra time to Lugano.

The Christmas break is very short for the players in the National League this year, with two games already on Sunday. In order to catch up as many of the games that were canceled due to quarantines, each team competes at least once in the old week.
