The  Lord Mayor of Solingen Kurzbach has spoken out in favor of more tests for the mutations of the corona virus.

© www.de24.news The  SPD politician said on Deutschlandfunk (audio link) that virus variants are now being tested in his city in every case. Although this is more expensive, it is necessary in order to be able to trace the chains of infection with the mutations. Kurzbach complained that far too little testing of the variants was carried out nationwide. That is why he does not trust the official figures on the prevalence of mutations to date, which should actually be higher.

Kurzbach was also critical of the vaccine procurement in Germany. In his city, the vaccination center is currently largely empty, and vaccination appointments would have to be canceled again. In the case of orders within the European framework, significantly more quantities should have been ordered, said the Lord Mayor.

Last year Solingen had one of the highest incidence values in North Rhine-Westphalia.
